Welcome to the International Team for Implantology (ITI) Southern Africa! Our organization is dedicated to advancing implant dentistry through research, education, and collaboration. Our team comprises leading dental professionals in Southern Africa who are passionate about improving patient outcomes and advancing the field of implantology.

The Southern African chapter of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) was established in 2005 by Dr’s Gerrit Wyma and Paul van Zyl, who joined the global organization in 2000. Pieter Wolfaardt, Blackie Swart, and Chris de Chavonnes Vrugt were the founding members of the local section.
By 2007, the organization was thriving, welcoming an additional seven members, and by 2008, six more had joined.
Today, the ITI Southern Africa has more than 250 members and boasts 12 Study Clubs across the region. Hosting more than 40 meetings annually with local and global speakers. The organisation continues to expand rapidly.
Many dental professionals in Southern Africa face challenges in staying up-to-date with the latest dental technologies and techniques, impacting the quality of care they can provide to their patients.
The ITI Southern Africa provides a platform for dental professionals to learn, share knowledge, and stay up-to-date with the latest advances in implant dentistry.
This not only ensures that their patients receive the very best care possible, but uplifts and maintains Southern Africa’s dental industry as a whole, and our position as dental leaders on the world stage.
